i have come across this site before in my travels.
you can load photos in and get effects, simple but a bit of fun.
for instance, here is the same bug pic put through the 'lomo' effect:

#5 Discover flickr
I happen to have a personal flickr account so this website is not new to me.
I have just logged in to my flickr account and sent a test flickr post to this blog, which you can see above. Impressive how flickr can recognise and hook up to this blog in a couple of mouseclicks and a few seconds.
I have now blogged a photo from my account, which is two posts above. It's a bug.
I think I set up my flickr account in about January of this year but I didn't know about these functions till just now.

#4 Register your Blog
I have just tried to register my blog, so pleased with myself that I was actually going to be able to map some progress, however there is an issue and I am unable to do so.
I have emailed the helpline for help.

#3 Grab yourself a blog in 3 steps
today I'm actually sitting down and taking the time to do this course, i can hardly believe it. several weeks too late but better late than never. got a lot of catching up to do.
here are some things i learnt about today/some thoughts i had:
it makes more sense when viewed massively at full size which can be done here. there should be a little zoom tool (magnifying glass) over the image. if you click on it it will enlarge to full size.
here are some things i learnt about today/some thoughts i had:
- the definitions of Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 - i had heard these terms but didn't know what they meant exactly, am glad that i do now.
- the terms 'internet' and 'world wide web' are not synonymous. According to wikipedia:
- the internet is "a worldwide, publicly accessible series of interconnected computer networks that transmit data by packet switching using the standard Internet Protocol (IP). It is a "network of networks" that consists of millions of smaller domestic, academic, business, and government networks, which together carry various information and services, such as electronic mail, online chat, file transfer, and the interlinked web pages and other resources of the World Wide Web".
- Meanwhile the www is "a system of interlinked, hypertext documents accessed via the Internet. With a web browser, a user views web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigates between them using hyperlinks"
- mozilla firefox add-ons: themes and extensions - the extensions in particular may prove useful one day, as much as anything it's just good to know these things exist. can't say i was taken by the christian-flavoured bible theme (made me laugh though). instead i chose a clean-looking minimal design by a japanese name
- life-long learning is always good to be reminded about, particularly when feeling a bit stuck and stale
- this is a really good visual representation of the internet:
